How to Apply Press-On Nails

Applying your Bout d’art press-on nails is quick and easy with the right preparation. Follow these simple steps to achieve a secure, comfortable fit and help your manicure last longer.

1. Prep Your Nails

Start with clean, dry nails. Trim and file your natural nails to your preferred length, then gently push back your cuticles using the cuticle stick provided.

Proper preparation creates a smoother surface and helps improve adhesion and wear time.

2. Buff and Clean

Lightly buff the surface of each nail to remove shine. Thoroughly clean your nails with the prep pad provided or 70% isopropyl alcohol to remove dust, oil, and moisture.

Allow your nails to dry completely before continuing. This step is essential for a secure, longer-lasting hold.

3. Apply the Adhesive Tab

Choose an adhesive tab that closely matches the size of your natural nail. Place it on the nail without touching the surrounding skin, then press firmly for 10–15 seconds.

Carefully peel away the protective film.

4. Apply the Press-On Nail

Position the press-on nail near the cuticle at a 45° angle. Gently lower it onto your natural nail, making sure it is straight and properly aligned.

Press firmly over the entire nail for at least 30 seconds. Avoid water, lotion, and oils for at least one hour after application for the best results.

Tip: Warm the Adhesive Tabs

For improved adhesion, gently warm the adhesive tabs before application using a hair dryer.

Warming the tabs may also make the protective film easier to remove. Avoid overheating the tabs or holding the hair dryer too close.
